Medical coverage costs

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Florida
I am employed thru a head hunter company in Canada as an airline pilot in India. I sought and obtained medical coverage for my wife thru the headhunters group plan (where I am insured as a benefit of employment), for which I was supposed to be billed on a quarterly basis. The medical coverage is provided by an insurer in England. When the coverage was initiated, I was informed that there were several exclusions in the coverage which would make it virtually useless. I wrote back to to the people in Canada expressing my dissatisfaction with the exclusions and the fact that the insurance would be useless. They responded they would contact the insurer in England and get back to me. I never received a response from the people in Canada nor from the insurer in England to my concerns. Six months later, having never received a bill, I got in touch with the head hunter group in Canada to request a bill. No bill was ever forthcoming. I assumed they had canceled the policy, but never got any confirmation. Now, 2 and 1/2 years later, they are billing me over $10,000 for medical coverage which was never used and which we thought was cancelled. Is there any way legally that I can fight this charge? Is it possible, in your experience, for the policy to be cancelled retroactively and the charges canceled? We still live outside the country, but will be relocating to Florida in the fall. Can this affect my credit standing? What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

This does not appear to have anything to do with US LAW. And since this site is US LAW ONLY, I don't think we can help you.
