When is a Medical Savings Program such as US Health Benefit Group-Direct Med a better choice than obtaining state insurance such as HIRSP? We are self-employed, cannot get COBRA after loosing employer paid benefits. The paper work is so overwhelming and difficult to process because past insurer is not clear as to whether or not they can provide us with Certificate of Creditable Insurance. We need insurance now! Our monthly meds will cost $1,000 because of our health situation.

Since you are business owners, you do have the option of group insurance coverage (with the accompanying restrictions on pre-existing limitations) either by creating a group consisting only of yourselves as employees of your business, or through a local small business owners association if available.
