Misquote from DentistWhat is the name of your state (California)? I went to a new dentist 3 months ago. Prior to this visit, my dentist suggested that I have a number of procedures done. I contacted my insurance to find out what my benefits were/what procedures would be covered and talked to dentist about how much of this would be covered by my insurance. I received a a 'quote' of $298 as my out of pocket expense. I made an appointment a few weeks after the quote, had the procedures done, paid my bill the same day and was done with it. Now, 3 months later, I get a bill from my dentist, that my actual out of pocket expense is $600 and I owe them the difference. The insurance did not cover the portions of the procedure that my dentist had initially stated it would cover. I plan to pay the bill because I don't want to have this sent to a collection agency and have it impact my credit score. BUT I am very angry that this has happened. I feel as though I have been robbed. I would not have agreed to these procedure had I known that I would be paying approx. $600. Can I sue? |

| An estimate is only ever an estimate, not a contract, and insurance payment can never be truly known until after the claim is submitted and processed. The dentist did nothing wrong and you owe the money.
