| Mistake w/patient California
My mother-in-law is in Kaiser hospital recovering from knee replacement surgery. Last night at ~11:30, we received a call from Kaiser stating my mother-in-law died. They were asking my husband (her son) what they should do (did he want to see her before they took her to the morg?, did he want to tell his father?, etc.) He told them he didn't know what to do and he would call them back. My husband then called his brother so they could drive to their father's house to inform him. Also, my 16 and 12 year old sons were awake and heard this awful news of their Grandmother. This was very upsetting and stressful to us all.
My husband then called Kaiser back. He asked to speak to the Dr. that had informed him of this news. When he called back, he stated the room number his mom was in. They then informed us that they had made a mistake and it wasn't her, it was someone else (Great News!).
When my brother-in-law arrived, he was a wreck. Fortunately, we were able to tell him the good news. But, I do not feel this is a acceptable mistake and was wondering if we should consider legal action.
Can someone please help?
Thank you,
