Moving with pre-existing conditionWhat is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Washington, but moving to Alabama I was diagnosed with breast cancer, last year, at age 30. Went through chemo, surgeries, etc. My husband and I have an individual health care plan that we had before I was diagnosed. To make a long story short we are losing our house, it is scheduled to be foreclosed on 7/10/09, and we will be moving to his home state of Alabama because it is so much cheaper to live there, but I am so scared of losing our policy that is not tied to a job. My questions are, Can I keep my policy in WA and come back here for all of my appointments? (we do hope to move back here once we are back on our feet, and I am done with treatment, just need to be seen every 6mo or so) Would my WA insurerer automatically cancel me if I move out of state? If I can't use the WA insurance while I live in AL, can I get a ploicy through an employer and just use that without risking my WA policy being cancelled? Thanks |

| The first thing you should do is see about getting your current policy changed/transferred to a policy in the state you are moving to.
