What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Texas

I was under the impression that a supplemental insurance policy can be written 3 months before the effective date of the requested policy. But I have been approached by a company that says they are able to write a supplemental insurance policy for me 6 months before the effective date of the policy if it is through a payroll deduction. Please advise on what the correct answer to this question. To be more clear, how many months in advance can a supplemental insurance policy be written before the effective date of the policy whether through an individual or payroll deduction basis.
