pre existing conditions

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? OH

I currently am under a small business plan with 3 employees thru Anthem. My wife has been battling breast cancer for 2 ½ years under this plan. It has gone up 24% and 23% on renewal each year. I can not afford to pay the premiums any more with 2 families and a single at $3600/month.
What are my options to do something different and not mess up coverage?
Thanks

Are you the business owner or one of the employees?

Okay, that makes it easier since you have control of the insurance.

You can, if you can find it, change to a less expensive coverage. As long as you do not go 63 days or more without coverage between the two groups, under Federal law the new insurance CANNOT consider your wife's condition pre-existing. (This assumes that you have been covered on the existing plan for 12 months or more.) I believe, but cannot confirm, that the same applies if you go from a group plan to an individual plan.

You might want to talk to an insurance broker about your options. Look for one that carries a number of different carriers and does not broker one exclusively.
