Pregnant Mother on CobraWhat is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? CA Hi: I am currently pregnant and on COBRA. The COBRA will expire 3 mth after the baby is born. Does anyone know if I will be allowed to add the new born to my COBRA for the first three month or should I just get private health insurance for him/her? Talking to my COBRA has just been a run around and no one has been able to give me a straight answer. p.s. Given my pregnancy, I've been having trouble finding a full time job with benefits (even though it is illegal and no one has said so outright, I suspect no one wants to hire someone and have them go on maternity leave after a few month), so right now I am working a contract job with no health benefits. |

| You should be able to add the baby to your policy, but if you're still unemployed it will probably make more financial sense to put him/her on CHIP. It will probably double your premium cost, and you won't be able to even work a contract job for at least a month or 2 after the birth.
