Retroactive Charges from my Chiropractor? FLORIDA
I was going to the Chiropractor from the middle of November 2006, up until January 15, 2007. The Chiropractor's receptionist would tell me how many visits I had left that my insurance would cover. In the last few visits, I would always ask "if I book another visit, will there be a charge?" and she would say "There is no charge", and then after that visit she would say "No fee for this visit". At my last visit she said that my insurance did not cover everything, and I had to remit $82.00 for my last visits. I begrudgingly paid the $82.00 and vowed never to go there again. Now, I get in the mail a letter saying I owe another $47.44 b/c they only received a "partial payment" from my insurance company. When I paid the $82.00 I said "OK, so now I am paid in full, I am not booking any more appointments because you represented to me there would be no charge". Do I have a case to not pay this $47.44 and get my $82.00 back because of the representations made by the Chiropractor's office? Can they say: "This is going to be covered" and "There will be no charge for today, and there won't be a charge if you book another visit" and then retroactively charge you if the insurance company does not pay in full?
Don't want to spend the money on an attorney - but I don't want to get screwed here.
