I want to submit a proper two week resignation notice to my employer (a small privately held company). However, due to the nature of my job, I am concerned that if I do, they will ask me to leave immediately.

Is my employer obligated to pay me for the remaining portion of the two week notice if they let me go before my two weeks is up?

My response:

Simple answer: No.

California is an "At Will" employment State. In reality, you could quit on a moment's notice, and your employer can fire you immediately.

While a two-week notice is "nice", there's no law requiring you to give one.

true and that utlimately is up to the employer -- discuss it with them and if they tell you "NO" then tell the other employer "that I can start immediatley"**************
