What is the name of your state?I am employed in the state of Massachusetts and I need to understand whether or not a provision in the employment letter I signed when I was initally hired has legally binding force. The letter states that "[employer] will provide [me] with a sixty day written notice should [they] decide to terminate [my] employment . . . and [they]will require a similar notice period from [me] should decide to leave." Then goes on to state that "[my]employment will be 'at will.' This means that either [employer] or may terminate [my]employment at any time and for any reason."
Am I obligated to give 60 days notice? What new employer would make me an offer of employment and them defer the start of the job for 60 days?
