7 yr criminal background check starting date?

What is the name of your state?Say employer does the standard 7 yr criminal check for every CALIFORNIA county I lived in. Technically, when does the criminal record checkers consider as the start of this 7 year period? (or maybe it has more to do with how the county criminal databases interpret 7 years?)


* January 1,1999

OR

* April 25, 1998 (Exactly 7 yrs ago from 4/25/2005 - the day employer orders the check)


Have a few convictions during 1998, so I of course would be in favor of the check starting on 1/1/99

There are several type of criminal checks offered typically offered. the recruiter tells me they will order the 7 year variety.

i also looked at criminal check services and the 7 year check is one of the typical standard ones offered.
