I'm employed by a hospital in Texas. I work an average of 46 paid hours per week, and another 12 hours unpaid. The shifts are up to 72 hours long, but you are not "on the clock" from 11PM to 7AM. If an ER case comes in, you punch in and see the patient, then punch out when you're finished with the patient. They do provide a bed and a shower for those unpaid hours; but still, if I have to be there I think I should be paid for the time.

Is this legal?
