I was given a job offer and showed up for orientation after 1/2 of a day i was called into the HR dept. i was told that i had to be escorted from the building because my background check showed a battery conviction. however i released this same information on my application/background check release form. i lost another job because of the new offer. i understand that their company policy is such that they do not hire people convicted of certain crimes. but i wonder if the contingent job offer is binding cinsidering that i released the information i was later fired for.

No, it is not. In the absence of a bona fide, enforceable contract that guarantees you employment for a specific period, the employer is free to let you go for any reason that does not violate the law. The fact that you released the information initally does not require them to employ you.
