i work for a bank and alot of people have come in to open accounts with us recently because their company switched banks and to cash there payroll checks they were being charged by the bank around 10 or 15 dollars. i dont know if the bank can charge them legally but doesnt the employer have to pay its employees in "lawfull money of the U.S. and without discount at a bank or other financial institution" this is in illinois, so with this being true wouldnt it be unlawfull to charge a person cashing their payroll check?
