Hi,
I am working for a Virginia based company in H1 visa. I have signed for one year bond and if I leave the company within one year I have to pay them a huge compensation.
I would like to know if this bond is really valid and if I break it will the company file a lawsuit against me? Please note that I have paid the company for the visa processing and its not refunded yet.

Thanks.

You really need to consult with a local immigration attorney who can read any documents you have and make a determination.

You definitely should consult with an attorney. Among other things, I can't tell if you're referring to an actual employment contract which specifies a penalty if you violate the terms of the contract, or whether you are an at will employee and the penalty they are trying to impose would therefore likely be unenforceable since it would negate your at will status.

I would like to know if this bond is really valid and if I break it will the company file a lawsuit against me? Nobody here could possibly comment on that. We haven't see the documents nor can we predict what your employer will do. See an attorney.
