I've been suspended for over two weeks already because the IT department found that I was checking porn sites while using a companie laptop at home.
my work load it's pretty high so I took the laptop home to continue with the work I couldn't complete during regular working hours and I did browse a couple sites.
I have never checked a porn site at the office or even during regular working hours. I understand that I have missused the companie asset but can I been fired for this?

yes. you can be fired. this was perfectly legal. i've fired someone for this same exact issue. i told him, "next time, use your own computer for that".

i have nothing against porn. just not on the company dime.

It's their property. You misused their property. The fact you did it outside of regular hours is really neither here nor there.

Yes, they can fire you for this. You need to find something different to do when taking a break from work, even if you're working from home.

To give you a better idea of what "at will employment" means, you could LEGALLY be fired for looking at porn on your OWN computer, on your OWN time, if your boss happened to find out about it and doesn't like porn.

On a company computer though, you not only CAN be fired but you SHOULD be fired for it. Do you have any idea how many viruses you probably allowed on to that computer? They're going to have to wipe the hard drive and reinstall everything, most likely.
