New York...I am a salaried employee. Never signed a contract for employment and I've been with the same company for almost a year.

My question is: if my boss wants me to travel to NYC and I refuse for lingering fears over September 11th, do I still qualify for unemployment? Is that a good enough reason to fire an exemplary employee? Boss has no complaints with my work but I fear traveling to and from NYC since the 11th.

Dear lilsister,

Yes, refusing to complete your job responsibilities will most likely prevent you from receiving unemployment.

I suggest you go seek some therapy to figure out why world events outside of your control are preventing you from living a productive life.
