Can a person be terminated if he/she is under there initial 90 days of employment and on their scheduled off day, the day before they are told they must work a half day. If the employee does not come to work, can he/she be fired? Even if the work schedule was posted a week in advance with no mention or request of working on his/her off day.

*** Yes. In fact the employee can be fired for coming in or not. The principle here is 'at will employment'.

Nor does it make the slightest bit of difference whether the employee is under or over the first 90 days of employment. In both cases, the answer is, if the employer tells you to come to work, you can be fired for not coming to work. It doesn't matter how long ago the "day off" was scheduled.
