I work for a County in Illinois, Court Services. We are non-exempt, salary paid employees. Our employer pays Compensatory Time. We are not allowed to use our Compensatory time without approval, if we need to leave early for medical appts we are docked, even though some have 30 hours of compensatory time. When we show up 3 minutes late we are docked 15 minutes (denied usage of compensatory time) and are refused compesatory time unless we work over 5 minutes. There are a number of different departments in our Unit but our dept is the only one who is held to the tardiness practice. We are Unionized. Also even if we are 3 minutes late and work an additional 2hours we are still docked the 15 minutes. Are there any violations our company is committing?

look for the union lable

If your late...your late. Working extra to make up for that time is at the will of the employer.

If your a Union worker...let them take care of it.
