Question regarding contracts? My employer owned his own business, which he sold. New owner hired him with a three year contract. Contract states his position as V.P. National Sales Manager. Also states that the new owner, in writing, must advise him of any changes to his position or contract, in a timely manner. New Owner hired a "V.P. National Sales Manager". My boss believes he will be put in a positon he does not want and is afraid that if he does not take it, they can fire him and he will lose all the perks agreed upon at the end of the contract. Does he have any legal recourse?

In order to determine that, your boss will need to take a copy of the contract to a qualified attorney. Only after an attorney reviews the exact wording of the contract can he or she answer those questions.

The man has nothing to worry about yet--what's wrong with having more than one VP National Sales Manager? There is no problem until someone initiates a discussion with him about his future employment. At that time he can have an employment attorney review his contract to see what his options are.

He may also want to have his attorney strengthen his contract so that he is protected against future situations like this--that is what contracts are for.
