Employer is holding my checkWhat is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? NJ I worked for a print broker for 5.5 years. I quite last month and have yet to be mailed my last check. I never signed any non compete documents while working there. I am moving forward in a different line of work. On of their clients had my personal email address and contacted me via email. I in a reply I let her know that I'm not in printing anymore and will not be able to help her. I guess she let him know that I emailed her back.. I just recieved a cease and desist letter from his lawyer about disclosing company information and have yet to receive my last paycheck. |

| If the time is past when you would normally have been paid (NJ does not require acceleration of the normal payday when an employee terminates, for whatever reason), you can file a claim with the state Dept. of Labor. Regarding the cease-and-desist letter, if you haven't been calling the customers, then I guess there isn't anything to stop, right?
