Employer is holding my check

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? NJ

I worked for a print broker for 5.5 years. I quite last month and have yet to be mailed my last check. I never signed any non compete documents while working there. I am moving forward in a different line of work. On of their clients had my personal email address and contacted me via email. I in a reply I let her know that I'm not in printing anymore and will not be able to help her. I guess she let him know that I emailed her back.. I just recieved a cease and desist letter from his lawyer about disclosing company information and have yet to receive my last paycheck.

If the time is past when you would normally have been paid (NJ does not require acceleration of the normal payday when an employee terminates, for whatever reason), you can file a claim with the state Dept. of Labor.

Regarding the cease-and-desist letter, if you haven't been calling the customers, then I guess there isn't anything to stop, right?
