What is the name of your state? Texas

Hello, I was laid off several months ago and am working with EBSA and the Texas Workforce Commission to collect back wages and severance I am owed. I learned today that my former company has ceased operations as of today BUT my employer has moved some of the employees and assets to another company he owns.

My questions:

Can the employer use this as a tactic to avoid paying the employees he still owes money to?

Is there an agency I should report this to other than the TWC and EBSA?

Thanks, a number of us are affected and we're just trying to determine what our next steps should be.
