Is an employer required to state in writing the specific reasons for terminating your employment?

After termination, can an ex-employee request copies of his/her personnel records and medical records? If so, is there a time limit for making the request and how many days does the employer have to comply with the request?

In most states there is no requirement that the employer state in writing or otherwise the reasons for terminating employment. Also, in most states, the employee is not entitled to his/her personnel records or medical records.

There may be some exceptions to this is a few states. I fyou post your state, we may be able to tell you if your state has such an exception.
