A friend told me that he turned in a notice to terminate employment and did not return to his job. The employer asked him to reconsider via letter and he asked when he would have to come back. They then put him on paid suspension and subsequently fired him when he did not return. In an employment at will state like Georgia, what would be the status of his situation? Did he quit or was he fired?
