What is the name of your state?what is your state? Ca, San Diego. Hi my name is Ilona. I am 41, have kids, dress nice... I went to LaborReady office to apply for jobs.. First I had to show my IDs.. and then I had to take 60 question test. Thei gave me a questionare and a little machine (similar to a calculator) to punch my answers in. 99% of questions were about using drugs, violence, honesty, steeling on a job... My answers were truthful - no drugs, no violence, honesty, no steeling, no alcohol, no fights, no bad language on my job.... I just answered honestly all my questions, as I am a good person, just need extra money... After I was done with the test, I waited about 2min for the results. Well, Justin, the clerk there, told me that I did not qualify and can not apply for Labor Ready job for a year!!!!!!!! When I asked why, what was wrong with my answeres, he said that the little machine wont tell him what was wrong, but I FAILED!!!!!! In the waiting area there, there were people waiting for jobs who already qualified, most of them older man and some women, but WHY did not I qualify??? I believe that was a personal rejection from the clerk, not based on the test at all. I also believe that he thought I don't deserve work from them, because I did not look like a street person (some of the people there did). I might be wrong, but I don't believe that I am. If anyone can give me the answer or recomendation what to do, please do so!!! Do I have any rights in this case!
Thank you Ilona from San Diego CA

I'm sorry but nobody here can possibly know why you failed this test and/or why this agency isn't interested in hiring you. Perhaps you're too qualified and therefore are unsuited for the types of jobs they have.

You're in a major metropolitan area. There are dozens and dozens of different temporary staffing agencies you can apply with. Forget this place and apply with several others.

We really would have no idea. Each employer can set their own expectations and can reject or accept a candidate for further consideration for any reason that is not illegal.

However, maybe you could ask to see a placement specialist there and ask them what you would need to do in order to move ahead in the process. Hopefully, they would be honest with you to improve your chances next time, but obviously there was something on the application that made them wary.

Good luck in your job search.
