What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? PA

I was recently fired from my job for calling off because my daughter was sick. I am a single mother with no family to help with my children. Is there anything I can do?

What is your work history?

ie. How long have you been at your current job?

How many employees are within a 50 mile radius?

Have you used any FMLA leave within the last year?

And, what was the nature of your daughter's illness? Not all or even most illnesses of family members (or, for that matter, yourself) qualify for FMLA.

Also, did you work for your employer at least 1250 hours in the 12 months immediately preceding taking off for your child's illness.

Of course, as cbg noted, FMLA requires you take off to care for a family member with a "serious health condition" as defined by the FMLA statute.
