Montgomery County Maryland: I was hurt on my job then let go, without reason, the same week I got information on how to file a workers' compensation case. At first, I did not make a connection between being hurt and being let go.

Unless you had a contract that specified otherwise, you could be fired at will (at any time at the discretion of the employer). However, you still have the right to file for workers’ compensation. You were employed at the time you were hurt and you were hurt on the job, so you probably do qualify.
