I turned in my two-weeks notice of resignation a few days ago. Now I am hearing rumblings that my boss wants to "let me go" by the end of this week and not pay me for next week. In my mind, that seems like firing someone because he/she resigned. Is that legal (I'm in Texas)?

Thanks in advance for any opinions on this topic!

I am not a lawyer and this in no way constitutes as legal advice.

I'm pretty sure that if you've resigned and have that documented they have to pay you the 2 weeks....at least in some states...whether they let you go during that time or not. Best to check with the state labor authority.

Just an evil thought here. . .

If he fires you, aren't you eligible for unemployment and COBRA?

Or, have you alreadly lined up another job?
