What is the name of your state?Kentucky,

I was wondering if it is legal for a company to discipline / fire someone for missing work due to personal illness. When returning to work the person provides a Doctor's excuse for the time missed.

Doctor's notes have no force in law. However, if your absence was 3 or more, you may be eligible for job protection under the federal Family Medical Leave Act.

1. Does your employer have at least 50 employees at your job site or within 75 miles of your job site? and,
2. Have you worked for the employer at least 12 months? and,
3. Have you worked at least 1,250 hours in the last 12 months, and
4. Have you taken any sick time off during the last 12 months?
