Minnesota is the state I live in. A big corporate firm has done this to several people - they call you in the office - fire you by saying that your job has been phased out - then you go home. BUT you have to return the next day for 2 weeks to get caught up on your work, answer questions re: projects, etc.
Not only is this embarassing and demoralizing - the people who still have jobs feel uncomfortable and its a very tense situation for all.
If you do not work the 2 wks. they will not give you the severance package.
Is this legal? Surely the fired person must have some rights.
