I have a friend who has been working for a company for 6 years. This company's call in procedure is that you call in at least 4 hours before you shift begins if you wont be there. she has always been regarded as an excellent employee and has not missed a day of work in 3 years(the only day she missed in 6 years). anyways...on sunday she was getting sick so she called in the night before saying she wouldnt be there monday morning. Her manager said ok and told her to call a coworker to see if he would cover her shift. The coworker said no problem that he could use the overtime. On Tuesday morning she went into work to find that she had been crossed off the schedule for the rest of the week. She called her manager to find out what was going on and he told her she was being fired for a statement that her coworker had made about her. Her manager then read her the statement that her coworker had written about how she had called him sunday night drunk and wanted him to work for her monday because she was going to be up all night drinking and would be too hung over to work. She tried to argue about it but her manager told her he didnt want to hear it and to go home. Is this legal?
What makes it worse, her ex coworker is bragging to everyone that he got her fired.
