What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? AZ. I was working for the Univ of Phoenix. I went into the hospital with kidney stones. My employment was terminated after 30 days because I had less than 1 year's emloyment with the company. These seems contrary to FMLA rules that I have read about. Any suggestions?

Yes - that you read the FMLA statute more carefully.

Since you had less than a year's employment with this employer, you did not qualify for FMLA and were not entitled to its protections. It was therefore legal for your employer to terminate you for an extended absence, even for medical reasons.
