if someone who is 15 years old gives their ssn to kroger, what can they do/find out with it?

They can run a background check, give it to the IRS, etc. But really the only need your name for that. They need you SSN for tax and identification purposes.

What is it you are particularly concerned about? What employers DO with social security numbers is report wages and tax deductions to the state and federal governments.

Perhaps the minor gave someone else's SSN to Kroger, and the minor is worried that Kroger will find out that it's not the minor's SSN?
