I was employed as a dental assistant. The relationship that I had with my boss for 2 years was terrific! We really clicked and worked VERY well together. He and his wife would invite me and my husband to their house for dinner, and vica versa. Unfortunately that all came to an end in 1999. I suffered 2 miscarriages, and after the second one I had asked him if the Nitrous Oxide (laughing gas) could have possibly contributed to my pregnancy losses. It was a mere question! I also discussed this with my OB/GYN and he told me that when we used N2O to have another person assist, and for me to leave the room. Well I got pregnant for the third time, and informed him of my Ob/GYN's advice. (We have an extra person that could assist him for the patients who use N2O-but does not care for her assisting) Once I told him that I was pregnant he sent me home and told me he would call me later that night. He did, and told me not to return to work for two weeks. (I was paid for that, and at the same time he was having the N2O system evaluated) I was told by a reliable employee there that he wasy calling his lawyers and getting advice----to get me fired, among other things! Basically they told him that he couldn't fire me and he should have the N2O system looked at. I talked to my OB about this matter, and how stressed I was about my job situation. The OB decided to call a specialist about the effects of N2O on pregnancy and told me that it would be okay to work around it. My boss required to have that in writting from my doctor. I finally returned. The system of N2O was changed. I was alos informed that it was very costly, but never did find out what the amount was. He was not to happy about that at all. Things were VERY stressed and awkward between him and myself....and the office manager. She wanted me out of there and made it known. I asked for her advice on what she would do and she told me she would quit. She became nasty and ill towards me. Spoke to me rarely, or only when she had too. He was IMPOSSIBLE to work with or be around. I stayed. It was very difficult. Once I returned he never spoke to me while we worked on patients. That was when we used to joke around and try to make it easier on a dental patient. Now there was dead silence. He would roll his eyes, or act as if I would ALWAYS hand him the wrong instrument All of the time. Before that, it was RARE when I gave him something incorrectly. Now all of a sudden I couldn't seem to do anything right. My baby came 5 weeks early...very unexpected. I was not too surprised though considering the amount of stress that I had at my job. I quit in April 2000 after having my baby. I just could not force myself to be in that tense of a working environment anymore. My husband also had to deal with all of this with me as well. I would come home in tears over this matter. (Of course Im sure the pregnancy hormones had some effect too--LOL) I have come to peace about this. I have decided to move on, and forget about this. Now that I found this website, I was wondering if I could sue him for treating me so badly that I quit. It was not just him. Out of the 5 people in that office, one would talk to me. She saw how he was with me. Probably should let it go...... Hope to get some advice
