How long can they make me wait for last check?

Alabama resident.

Fired from previous job. I waited 2 weeks to pick up final pay check. When I arrived to get my check I was notified that my check was not received and I would have to wait another two weeks. Is this legal in Alabama?

Alabama law has no provision regarding when final pay is due to a terminating employee. However, standard protocol in this case is normally on the next regularly scheduled pay day. So, for example, if your last day was June 30, and the pay period that includes June 30 ends on July 8 and was paid on July 15, you could have to wait that long.
