I lost my green card, can i still get a job with a valid passport from my birth place

I lost my Green Card in 2003, i filled out an appliction to get a new green card. I sent it to 26 Federal Plaza along with the fee and the 2 pictures, it has been almost two years now and i still didn't get a response. but i want to know can i still get a job with my other ID's, such as; a New York state ID and a unexpired passport form my birth place.
