What is the name of your state? NJ

An acquaintance was fired due to allegations from a consultant that he pulled a swiss knife and pointed it at him; according to my acquaintance, the consultant bullied him so much at lunch that eventually pissed him off. Can he file a civil suit against him? What recourse does he have? Do these situations that happen outside of office hours/locations fall under office misconduct?

Thanks

Can who file a civil suit against whom?

I don't care how pissed off your acquaintance was - pulling a knife on someone is a valid reason to be fired.

Can he file a civil suit against him? If he didn't pull a knife and he can prove the consultant was lying, he may have a claim against the consultant since your friend suffered damages.

What recourse does he have? See above.

Do these situations that happen outside of office hours/locations fall under office misconduct? Yes.
