I was wondering if it is legal for an employer to suspend an employee because they have been charged with something. I was suspended w/o pay or oppurtunity to take sick or vacation time because as a result of an argument with my girlfriend she filed stalking charges against me. I've already been to court and the charge was dismissed. The problem is all the missed work time I had to suffer. The charge was only a misdemeanor and I had and still have a totally clear record. I've worked for the company for 12yrs and this is the only time anything like this has come up. It doesn't seem right to me.
