I was recently "laid off", they said my position was being eliminated. I was a customer service rep./sales assistant, and my accounts that I currently was working on were moved to our parent company. There are still 3 other ladies in customer service, and one of them is a temp, and the other 2 came to work for the company after I did. Can the legally lay me off???

Yes. Nothing whatsoever in the law says that they have to go by seniority.

So it's OK to keep a temp, but lay off a permenant employee?

Yes. Sometimes the term 'laid off' is used to 'tactfully' release an employee with a minimum of fuss and confrontation.
