What is the name of your state? MS

I am posting this for a friend who is in the hospital and is worried about his job.

He is in the hospital for heart surgery. Can he lose his job for going into the hospital for surgery??? It will take a few weeks before he can go back to work and then he will be on light duty for a short time.

The short answer to your question is yes, IN SOME CIRCUMSTANCES he can lose his job.

However, you have not provided remotely enough information to say whether he can lose his job under the circumstances you describe.

At a minimum, we would need to know the following:

1.) How many employees does his employer have within 75 miles of his location
2.) How long has he worked for this employer
3.) Did he work a minimum of 1,250 hours within the last 12 months
4.) How much, if any, time has he missed due to this or any other medical condition during the last 12 months
5.) How many weeks does the doctor anticipate him being out of work
6.) How long before his doctor anticipates his being able to return to FULL duty
