the second week of oct. my wife was told her contract would not be renewed after the fist of the year. this made 12-31-04 her last day on the job.

during the last week of oct. she was told that if she finished the month she would be paid thru the end of the year. go home at the end of the month. she was glad to be out of a bad situation.

in short they reneged, and didn't pay her for dec. we didn't know this until just yesterday. we also didn't know we were no longer covered by insurance and our coverage has lapsed. we recieved no corba notification.

do we have any recourse?

That depends upon the terms of her contract and exactly what was said to her. She'll need to see an attorney on this.

By the way, if she hasn't called whoever told her they would pay her through December and asked what happened, she should. It's possible this is just an administrative error and somebody forgot to submit the necessary paperwork to payroll.

them 1st time she called about the checks she was told that she needed to submit the standard form that she used for her previous paid weeks. she did this and the check never showed. she called again and the one with whom she made the agreement said he would lookl into it. still the check didn't arrive. so she called again and was told that they would look into it. we figured that the two checks maybe comming as one. when the next pay time arrived (they direct deposit on the last day of the month and the 14th) and went, nothing. because of the holliday, last monday we were unable to act untill yesterday. later that day she was told that no such agreement existed and that our insurance was cancelled on the last day of the year.

Then your wife's only other option is to speak with a local attorney and determine whether the statements made to her legally obligated the company to pay her.
