a freind of mine was recently given a write up for supposedly spreading malicious rumors. what was being implied was that another co-worker who had less seniority than she received a advancement in employment. the reason im saying advancement is because they are not calling it a promotion even though she received a raise and has other capabilities of managers. my freind was written up because she talked to other co-workers outside of work about the matter and later asked her supervisor why she or any other employees were not considered because they had more senority. she then told her supervisor not using any names that other employees were upset about the decision. then later that day she was written up for spreading malicious rumors. which also pertained to her personal opinions about another co-worker who was still in training which were in no way degrading nor were they directed towards the employee and all that was said was that she did not like this employee. was the write up a violation of her rights to speak freely since they technically were outside the workplace if that matters and were not derogatory?
