This Is Messy.. Please Help!

Ok.
I worked in a department in a supermarket.
I was "demoted".
Someone said I made a biaist comment about the manager that had me demoted.
It went around like a rumour.
Now I have to attend a meeting based on the comment because the person made a compaint.
If they fire me, what are my opitions ?

To file for unemployment and look for a new job.

It may or may not be unfair, but nothing illegal has transpired, and it will not be illegal if they fire you. They are allowed to terminate your employment if they believe you have made inappropriate remarks, even if they are mistaken.
