What is the name of your state? Texas

I recently applied for a position with an Independent School District. It was not stated in the ad that you had to live in the town where the job was. When I called the Superintendent to ask about it, he said that he needed someone that lived in the same town as the job.

Is this a normal hiring procedure?

*** It is not unusual that a tax supported employer wants his employees to be in the taxing district.

Ditto. The county that I live in requires by statute that county employees, including teachers, live within county limits. As JETX says, it has to do with the tax district.
