I recently resigned as an account manager over 30 major accounts. At the time of my departure I was in the middle of renegotiating a contract with a client.

My ex-employer told this client that I took an extended leave, lying about the fact that I had resigned. They were trying to not ruffle feathers since a contract was being negotiated.

Is this legal?

I can't think of any law that would prevent them doing it.

Look at it this way, Gina. One of these days, they're going to have to admit the truth. Then they'll be caught in their own trap.
