Our division was bought and the company let us know 4 days before the sale. I am considered a key employee.

I did not want to go with the new company and wanted to stay employed by my current employee in another division. They have a position for me and were ready to hire me on.

I was just informed that the company that I work for has a clause in their contract with the new company stating that they are not allowed to hire a former employee for ONE YEAR.

I am "held-hostage" b/c the companies have agreements. The division that I would go to has nothing to do with the current division (not the same clients or type of business).

What if I would quit? Still have to wait 1 year, correct?
What if I was fired from the new compnay?
