I recently changed jobs and my previous employer says that I received 2 checks that I was not entitled to. The checks were issued to me and I thought that they were pay that was held back. They informed me that they do not hold back pay and want me to pay them back. I cannot afford to pay back a months worht of salary and have been told by some that I am not responsible to pay them back since they made the mistake and issued the checks to me. I live in Chattanooga, Tn and do not know what to do. Any advice?
