What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Pennsylvania
i worked for a company (Hotel),,
that started massive renovation..
the 3 full time lounge employees were told on a tuesday that we are closing on sunday to start renovations on monday...then three of us were scheduled to come back the next weekend to work a banquet for fri,sat and sun.
and that will be it while they are closed...we were lead to believe that we would be returning...while we were waiting on words of progress
they started taking application for our jobs and that we had to re apply for our jobs...they had already determened that we were not going to asked to come back...
do they have to give us a 30 or 60 layoff warning ?...
we were never formally notified of any termination....
we were left dangling in the wind waiting
thank you

Only if your employer is covered by WARN. If they have 100 or more employees, not counting employees who have worked less than 6 months in the last 12 months and not counting employees who work an average of less than 20 hours a week. Otherwise, the employer doesn't have to give notice.

If you haven't already done so, file immediately for your unemployment benefits. They let you go through no fault of your own. that's what unemployment insurance is about.
