What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? California

Hello,

I was recently terminated from my job as a salaried manager for a hotel. I was over it and now looking for a new job. Tonight I was informed from a previous employee that my previous manager is spreading rumors true and false about my termination to my old employees.

Can she do this?

Apparently she can do this. She probably shouldn't tell lies. Whether she can be held legally liable for what she has said, however, depends on what, exactly, she is saying about you (and a host of other factors).
